| All the Chinese partners hosted in Beijing the fifth EC-GIN regular project meeting on 17-19 March 2008. The meeting took place in China Mobile Group Design Institute Co., Ltd.
The meeting allowed for discussions on most work packages and for the preparation of the Second International Conference on Networks for Grid Applications (Beijing, October 2008). First, discussion of reviewer feedback was given. In the work package 2, about Modeling, presentations focused on traffic analysis of GridFTP, PPLIVE and IPTV CDN applications, also the self-similarity and heavy tail property of Grid traffic, and modifications on GridSim was given. Within work package 3, on Mechanism Design, partners presented their progress on technical details of SOAPExpress, active measurements, weak correlations path, resource reservation and flow control of GINTONIC, and a resource selection mechanism for coordinated reservation. Grid Economics in work package 4 involved flow Control incentive mechanism, private and shared history-based incentive mechanism, new pricing scheme, incentive trust scheme, QoS issues and metrics, and security module design. Work packages 6 on Dissemination discussed task distribution among partners and work package 7 on Project Management discussed the 1st Yearly Management Report. At last, an open discussion about next steps, possibly early WP5 work, was given.
