                                 China National Grid (CNGrid)

The China National Grid (CNGrid) Project is supported by the National High-Tech R&D Program (the 863 program) and built by the "High Performance Computer and its Kernel Software" project. It is the testbed of the new generation information infrastructure, which integrates the high performance computing to form the National High Performance Computing Environment — the NHPCE and the capacity of transaction processing. It efficiently supports various applications including scientific research, resource and environment research, advanced manufacturing and information service by sharing resources, collaborating and service mechanism.

CNGrid includes 9 sites for HPC in the Grid, interconnected them with CERNET and NSTnet, and equipped each site with Dawning 2000/3000, Galaxy 3 (20Gflops), Sunway 1 (460Gflops), and PC-cluster (8Gflops), in total greater than 4T flops per second grid-enable clusters. NHPCE has fostered applications for resource integration and sharing in terms of environment, industries, service and science.

                                   ChinaGrid

ChinaGrid, founded by Ministry of Education of China, is a successful attempt to achieve a virtual single image of heterogeneous resources by exploring various resources on existing and well developed internet infrastructure, CENET (China Education and Research Network). 20 Universities are involved in ChinaGrid. It has established many research and applications areas in China.

                                   Shanghai Grid

The Shanghai grid project, supported by Shanghai Science & Technology department, is aimed to study the key technique of information grid, develop information grid system software and application supporting environment, and establish a information grid to support “city traffic service system” that supplies the best out line.

Shanghai Supercomputing Centre (SSC) participates in the research of information grid facilities environment and standard protocol and combines with other nodes (Shanghai University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University) to supply their high performance resources into the grid environment which follows the key interconnection protocol and node interface standard. The Shanghai GRID will eventually offer road condition vision and superior choice service of the dynamic road condition for the Shanghai resident in the whole city 36 thousands highway and more than 20 thousands crossing corner.
