In addition to the general project meetings, EC-GIN partners from China (BUPT, ISCAS, CTTL and CMDI) held several local project meetings and panel discussions. In order to illustrate the progress that is being made, below is briefly presented the outcome of these meetings.
- January
4, 2007:
Discussed the work distribution in order to unitize the advantage of each
partner, and then decided the topic of the next meeting: the application
scenario of the Grid.
- January
18, 2007:
Discussed one of the application scenarios of the Grid: Mobile IPTV. Each
partner provided a slide to introduce some key technologies in related
fields. The titles are "Possible Application with Grid technology in
mobile network", "Applying Push-based Point-to-MultiPoint
Communication Techniques into the Mobile Grid IPTV Scenario",
"Mobile IPTV architecture based on Grid" and "Requirement
and Architecture of IPTV based on Grid". This meeting came to
the conclusion that it is possible to use Grid technology for IPTV.
- January
24, 2007: Discussed some details about Mobile
IPTV scenario. Mobile Grid theory was introduced in the meeting,
other theories such as MBMS (Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service) and
IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) were presented to deal with the key problem
in Mobile IPTV field. Grid traffic modeling and simulation related to WP2
was also discussed in this meeting.
- February
1, 2007: Held a simple NS-2 training among Chinese partners to provide
support for Grid traffic analysis.
- March
2, 2007: Discussed the relocation of the work according to the advantages
of each partner.
- April
20, 2007: Discussed the results of the Zurich meeting, organized all the
ideas about Mobile IPTV during the earlier period, prepared to put Mobile IPTV into the EC-GIN "Survey of the state of
art” report as one of the use cases.
- August
8, 2007: Discussed the result of the meeting in Poros. Each partner
introduced the work that has been done and the future work plan related to
each WP. The meeting focused on the GINTONIC API design and requirement,
as well as on the real Grid traffic analysis.
