The most important Standards Development Organization is Global Grid Forum (GGF) and the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS).

The GGF is the community of users, developers, and vendors leading the global standardization effort for grid computing, while the OASIS produces more Web services standards than any other organization along with standards for security, e-business, and standardization efforts in the public sector and for application-specific markets.

Other consortiums contributing to the grid standards include: the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF),Common Information Model (CIM), Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM), the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), which involved in the web service standards, especially the standards about XML.
